So Absurd It Must Be True (Author Interview)

So Absurd It Must Be True looks like a great and interesting collection of short tales.  When is part two planned for release?

I’m planning to release book 2 in February 2020. It may happen earlier, also. But I have quite a tough schedule: my #YA fantasy book, Dulcinea Lovinescu – The Code Girl is coming out 1 April 2019, my humorous non-fiction book NINE OF CUPS is scheduled for 3 June 2019 and my children’s book (based on Korean myths) – autumn 2019. I’m also going to publish my creative, “odd, but funny” 40 book reviews as an eBook on Amazon.

What do you think makes a short?

Idea – what do you want to say, to show, to teach, to learn.
Hero – you can forget the plot, but you will NEVER forget a hero (if you loved or hated him/her).
Emotions – the reader (as well as the writer) should be able to relate to the heroes of the story.

What inspired you when writing So Absurd It Must Be True?

Walk. Nature. Words. An empty mind. I keep my mind blank most of the time. So, when an idea arrives - I’m catching it. Usually, I’m writing it down, on the go. And I’m always inspired by followers of my blog “Raynotbradbury” on Wordpress.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?  Full time?  Part time? I’m quitting my job this summer and I’m going to write full time.

When did you decide to become a writer?

I wrote my first story when I was only 6 years old. I thought I was destined for a career in writing. I wanted to spend my days sitting in a dark, empty library, half-time reading and half-time writing books, because back then, I really believed this is how they do it – “Real Writers.” But I grew up…
My mom also told me that all writers are “crazy” and writing was not a good job for a girl. Ha ha. But if seriously, I decided to become a writer (or get back to writing) in 2017.

When writing So Absurd It Must Be True did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

To describe the weather, places, objects and surroundings.
Let me explain…I find it very difficult to describe objects. I prefer dialogue, visual details or narrative description. I believe that’s my biggest strength as a writer. I balance between dialogue and visual comments (characteristics of my heroes). Sometimes, I’m writing only dialogue (like a script).

How did you come up with the stories in So Absurd It Must Be True?

“Heaven” sent them to me. Just kidding. Or maybe not…
I get most of my ideas when I am meditating or sometimes through my dreams, for example, a new vision of reality/the world in my upcoming fantasy novel Dulcinea Lovinescu – The Code Girl.

What do you like to do when not writing?

Eating. I have one more blog, about health. And I’m cooking from scratch at least twice a day. So, food means a lot to me. Reading. Traveling with purpose (attending concerts, art exhibitions). And my dogs: Daisy (French bulldog) and Sky (shih-tzu).

How can readers discover more about you and your work?

Step 1. Follow my blog “Raynotbradbury” on Wordpress. Step 2. You are welcome to subscribe to my newsletters. I’m too lazy to send them, anyway, so please – go ahead. Ha ha… Step 3. You can always contact me personally via my email (you’ll find it on my contact page), but again, very lazy online girl here. Expect at least 3-4 days of silence before I’ll answer. My day is planned, and I’m writing (plus reading a lot), so emails are the last thing I check.
