Madam Rhino - Troubled Waters: A Graphic Novel  by Chris Lewis is an exciting story. So Chris tell us about the book.

Well as the title suggests it’s a comic. Angela Adisa is a secret agent (Agent Grey) who uses cruise holidays as a mission cover. Unfortunately, in this story, she is surprised by her family joining her ‘on holiday’. How can she complete her mission while her family are aboard and avoid them finding out she’s an agent? A bit of silliness where age is just a number.

Any plans to turn it into a series?

In the future, ‘the when’ will depend on my interest and recovery from writing this story. I may do the original story to explain how Angela Adisa was recruited by the secret organisation called the Bridge Club. It has been four years in the making. I found it a lot harder than writing a traditional story of words. This was because I had to think about what the characters looked like and the scenes' content - I loved it!

What inspired the idea for your book?

I’m fortunate to have friends from the older generation who have been retired for decades. Most are sharp and very witty. Some of them are also a bit grumpy, and I love them no less than the ones who are jolly. One of my older friends commented that they were not represented in comics and that printed books were too time-consuming to read. So I thought, why not represent it in a comic? So I wrote the book and then used that as a basis for the comic.

I connected with a brilliant illustrator called Toisen from Brazil. Some of my older friends were not used to reading comics but chuckled at my prototypes, so I continued.

Can you tell us a little about Agent Adisa?

Angela is also a granny, master hugger and part-time secret agent. She was recruited as a secret agent in her eighties. Angela also has some superhero powers currently being explored, aka the nickname Madam Rhino. However, Angela prefers to use her secret agent skills and knowledge from being a retired scientist to complete missions.

What part of the book was the most fun to write?

The fight scenes were the hardest but also the most fun.

What do you like to do when not writing?

When I can, I sleep and eat good food. I also write technical and business semi-fictional story guide books starring the Carnsa family in non-office situations. Angela’s daughter is called Claudia Carnsa.
