Lamplight

Lamplight looks like a fun historical fiction book.  What can you tell us about it?

It’s a new take with interesting twists on the old fables of King Arthur. I put alot of thought into adding elements of things I enjoy, like Nikola Tesla and Jack the Ripper. It’s a modern retelling of old stories with a mixture of whodunnits, fantasy, and thriller.

That’s an amazing cover.  Can you tell us a little about it?

I took a while to find the right artist to do it for me. It’s a scene that I always saw in my head and wanted it to be the cover, I simply love it.

What inspired you when writing Lamplight?

I had a dream one night and it stuck with me. I eventually molded things around it, smashed it up and made something new.

Can you tell us a little about Davey O’Shea?

He is an everyday, normal person. He is thrust into a situation that he can’t say no to, something that seems impossible. Davey is a character I wanted to be easy to relate with because even though he doesn’t think he will succeed, he can do more than what he thinks is possible.

What will readers get out of your book?

Enjoyment I hope. I just want people to enjoy it. I want to talk to them and find out what their favorite parts were, their favorite characters and everything in between.

What motivated you to become a writer?

I wanted to write a story my late grandfather would enjoy. I also wanted to accomplish something, so I said, why not?

How did you come up with the story in Lamplight?

Just an amalgamation of cool stuff I find interesting. I took inspiration from things I’ve seen and read and added my own flair and ideas to them.

Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing Lamplight?

Keeping it interesting fiction wise while incorporating historically accurate events and situations. I also didn’t want to glorify Jack the Ripper too much, his victims, even though it has been over a hundred years, need to be respected.

What do you like to do when not writing?

Audiobooks. I love movies and music too, basic stuff hah.
