What
do you think makes a great story?

When
did you decide to become a writer?
I’ve been writing for as long as I remember. I wrote my first newspaper article when I was twelve. Even though this is my first novel, I’ve written hundreds of articles for the CCIN network (Whisky.com, Nashville.com, Traveler.com, etc). On 12/07/16, The Daily Beast featured my article “The Man Who Tried To Stop Pearl Harbor” to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack.

When
writing The
Diary of an Immortal
(1945-1959)
did anything stand out as particularly challenging?
Yes. My novel is about someone experiencing the emotional, physical and spiritual effects of immortality. I had to realistically put myself in his shoes and, at first, it was quite difficult. However, over time it became easier.

How
did you come up with the story of The
Diary of an Immortal
(1945-1959)?
It came to me in a very bizarre dream. In the middle of the night, I wrote it down. I’m glad I did because when I awakened in the morning I’d completely forgotten about it. I believe this happens to a lot of people and that is why you should always have a pen and paper by your bed. When your subconscious mind speaks you should listen.

What
do you like to do when not writing?
I’m
a professional drummer. I also love to travel, especially to Europe.
